Currently, germline genetic modification is illegal in many European countries and in Canada, and federal funding in the United States cannot be used for such work.
Different and define genetic modification GM slightly differently.
In these cases, there is hope that, if the disease-causing gene can be corrected or replaced, then it may be possible to cure individuals with the disease or at least prevent the disease from worsening.
