Peranakan place - Peranakan Place

It was officially opened on 3 July with great fanfare complete with lion dances.

The renaming of the place was a unanimous decision agreed on by both parties, according to the authority.

In the past, the complex was seen as a centre for only traditional Peranakan activities, but the new owners wanted to widen the scope.

As we were famished, we entered Peranakan Place.

More Had lunch with my family here and we came at the busiest hour.

This led to the subsequent pedestrianisation of the road in 1981 starting from the intersection at Orchard Road.

To finish we had the durian pudding which was made from real durian pulp - superb.

It was later in 1900 that two enterprising business men, Seah Boon Kang and Seah Eng Kiat subdivided the land into 28 building lots and sold most of them.

Food was suffused with subtle flavours, perhaps not as good as other peranakan based meals i have had, however the meal was still a satisfactory one.
Customer servive was alright but the waiter who took the orders managed to forget a dish and it beats me why he wasnt taking down orders if he was going to have a minor slip in his memory.
We ordered the Singapore Char Kway Teow one of the best we've had in AustraliaHar Mee so flavoursomeand Belachan Kang Kong amongst other things, at everything was excellent.

While the food is good and taste very homely, I find the place rather overpriced. Babi Pongteh was $18.90, Nyonya Chap Chye was $13.90 and fried winglets was $10.90. Nonetheless, itโ€™s still a good and conveniently located place for one to try out Nyonya food.

Peranakan in Indonesian and Malay means the uterus or womb, or someone from a mixed marriage between a local and a foreigner. 3 Not all Peranakans are of Chinese ancestry. 4 Non-Chinese Peranakans in the early 20th century include the Bugis Peranakans, Arab Peranakans and Java Peranakans. 5 In the Straits Settlements, there was also a small but.

Known to be one of Singaporeโ€™s oldest Peranakan restaurants (it was established in 1953!), Guan Hoe Soon is the go-to place for no-frills Nyonya food. Choose from items like ayam buah keluak, sayur lodeh and udang assam pedas (prawns in spicy tamarind sauce) for a good โ€˜ol time.

Delicious and Fragrant Peranakan . If you are looking for a decent Peranakan joint, this is it. Dishes are well balanced, with a good chunk of nostalgic flavour mixed with the chefโ€™s own minor twists. Desserts and drinks could improve a little but overall a great place for a meal. .
